Real Weddings - Deborah & Patrick

Bombay was happy to be a part of Deborah & Patrick's wedding ceremony at the Doubletree Hotel Market Center. This was a fun wedding to be part of! The lovely couple, Deborah and Patrick, were both fun loving and obviously so in love with each other. The ceremony was beautiful and followed with a reception to remember, which even included a money dance where the guests threw money on the dance floor as a sign of luck and hope for the marriage. The Bombay team loved all the guests and how vibrant everyone was, and were blessed to be part of such a special event. Congratulations Deborah and Patrick!

Wedding highlights and video coming soon.

Varsha's Half Saree Ceremony

A cultural tradition of celebrating the coming of age for a young girl becoming a teenager that she has what is called a “Half Saree Party”, the half-saree is a transition from the pavadai to the sari, from girlhood to womanhood. We had the privilege of being part of such a ceremony recently at the Omni Dallas Hotel At Park West, along side the genius Deejay Prashant  and the amazing Weddings By Alpa, complete with a pasta bar, an ice cream bar and a chocolate fountain. Oh did we mention there were nearly 300 guests!
The guest of Honor, Varsha, is a very bright and vibrant young girl who handled the night with the utmost dignity of one much older than only ten years old. She spent the night patiently posing for photo after photo and always had a smile on her face. Following cocktail hour, the night started with fun games and facts for the guests, that even turning into a competition between both halves of the room, followed by some amazing performances and dancing by the talented little guests in attendance. We even had hotel guests appearing outside the hall doors to catch a glimpse of our young honoree on stage, and party crashers (in the form of teenage boys) trying to get a some of the ice cream bar action. The night concluded with a wonderful, heartfelt speech from Varsha and some of her guests, the sounds of Deejay Prashant and an adorable father/daughter dance.
All in all, the Bombay Team was privileged to be part of such a wonderful and memorable night. Congratulations Varsha on your journey into womanhood.

Real Wedding - Beautiful Bengali Wedding of Arafath & Farhana

Arafath & Farhana spent the weekend celebrating with their closest family and friends for their Gaye Holud and Bengali* wedding ceremony. It was an unforgettable event, and Gaye Holud was a great prelude to the wedding that followed the next day. At Bombay we were thrill to be able to witness this uniquely beautiful celebration of love, family and friends. Farhana was stunning, and Arafath the right amount of fun! Thank you for allowing Bombay to attend and photograph this special event.  Congratulations to the beautiful couple!

A Fresh Gaye Holud

Arafath & Farhana celebrated their Gaye Holud* this last weekend. And while the ceremony was beautiful, we wanted to share these adorable photos of the fun foods that the bride's family took time to carve by hand. They had apple swans and eggmen with jalapeno hats. They took time to create these beautiful works of art that could easily be mistaken for one of those fun Edible Arrangements.

*For those of you not familiar with a Gaye Holud ceremony, the Gaye Holud takes place one or two days prior to the religious and legal Bengali wedding ceremonies. The bride is seated on a dais, and the henna is used to decorate her hands and feet with elaborate abstract designs. The turmeric paste is applied by the guests to her face and body. Turmeric is known to cleanse, soften and brighten the skin, giving the bride's skin the distinctive yellow hue that gives its name to this ceremony.
