Real Weddings: Neha & Dalvir's Punjabi Wedding - 12.20.12

For this #flashbackfriday, we wanted to look back at an amazing couple from December 2012. Neha & Dalvir celebrated their wedding on the week of December 12th, 2012. This was a traditional Punjabi wedding that took place in Lewisville, Texas at the Hilton Gardens Hotel. It is easy to see how in love this couple is and how much fun they had during their wedding. It was hard to find Neha or Dalvir without smiles on their faces!

Handfasting

Whether we are watching from behind a camera or as a guest, Handfasting is a fascinating ritual in wedding ceremonies. The tradition has a rich history and can be traced as far back as the early Christian period in Ireland and Scotland, although, it is linked with many faiths and cultures. The practice is also where the term “tying the knot” originated. Handfasting can be performed as a betrothal, engagement or during the wedding ceremony. Handfasting can also be legally binding depending on the area of residence of the couple.
To perform a Handfasting ritual, the officiant will create a blessed space with the four corners representing the elements of air, fire, water, and earth. An altar with one large candle, representing the couple together, and two smaller candles, representing the bride and groom individually, are placed in the North position of the space. The bride and groom light the larger candle together from their individual candles to symbolize their joining. This part of the ceremony is similar in function to the American Unity Ceremony used in religious weddings.
Gifts, birthstones, and other symbolic elements representing air, fire, water, and earth, are also placed on the altar.
Next, readings and blessing from designated guests are read. After the readings, the officiant will call upon the spirit to bless the union and will tie the couple's hands together. The bride's right wrist is tied to the groom's left wrist. The couple then exchanges vows and rings and drink from a wine glass before their hands are untied. The untying of the wrists represents the couple's independent wish to be joined together.
The newly married couple is given an ivy wreath made of flowers chosen by their guests to represent their well wishes. The couple then leaves, traditionally, by walking under a floral archway while being sprinkled with flower petals by onlookers.
There are many ways to add a Handfasting ritual to a wedding ceremony. The materials and process varies from historical and cultural traditions. Although it can be performed a number of ways, each ritual is a beautiful recognition of two individual lives joining together steeped in culture and love.

.: Wedding in Houston :.

Wedding in the largest city of Texas (Houston) is always special for me. It always reminds me the wedding of Amy and Mateen, the most memorable wedding we covered in Houston. Our team really worked hard on their wedding for which they appreciated our commitment. From their admiration and support we are again fully charged up for the special in Houston to cover a wedding this year. Although there are many professional photographers in Houston as well, we are glad that the couple trusted us with our experience of over three decade.

The beauty of the city and the cuteness of the couple is enticing me to cover the wedding with my fullest effort.

Houston, get ready for the most amazing wedding and its finest wedding coverage, Bombay Films is on its way.

Here is the video clip from Amy and Mateen.

.: Anita & Rizwan :. E-Session

Dallas Arboretum and Las Colinas

We met up with Anita and Rizwan for their E-Session in Dallas Arboretum this weeks. They are getting married next month and we are really excited to be the part of this very special day.

Their photographic interest and their amazing chemistry along with their comfortableness and easiness encouraged us to snap the few stupefying shots. Anita's familiarity with the location was a plus point for us as we had a wider knowledge of how much the location had to offer. We were even lucky with some beautiful blue skies – something which has been very rare these last couple of weeks in Dallas!

Our Digital artist also had fun time editing their picture, transporting the couple to the one of the most romantic destination, making it one of my personal favorite snap.

In order to avoid the sluggish afternoon Dallas traffic, we had to abandon the primary location early to continue rest of our session in Las Colinas, my favorite area for the perfect photo shoot. We got few wonderful snaps in Las Collinas with natural lights and and wonderful color contrast. Anita was really looking gorgeous in the Indian outfit which gave the perfect punch for the paradisaic shot.

We had really wonderful time working with you guys. Our whole team is eager to capture your precious moments again soon.
Good luck with the final wedding preparations.

.: Iffat & Juby :. E-Session

Las Colinas, Mandalay Canal

Last Week I had the pleasure of photographing Iffat and Juby in Las Colinas. It’s not every day that I get chance to photograph one of the most beautiful and intimate affiars! During the photos session they were not only sweet and thoughtful, they really inspired us to upgrade our website and our blog. Because of their motivation and love we are upgrading our blog. Thanks to Iffat and Juby.

They were very helpful and co-operative during the shoot. Even the ever changing Texas weather supported us with the perfect weather that anybody could only dream for. Hard work of five photographers as well as the creative ideas from the couple really aspire us to snap some really amazing and natural pictures. I had real tough time choosing the top pictures for the blog.

Iffat and Juby, Thank you very much for such a nice experience working with you guys. I just cant wait for your wedding in June.

Here are the E-session Videos.

Nida and Amer simply make a perfect couple. They are so comfortable with each other and you can really see how much they love and enjoy each other, and it is soooo refreshing. They were so friendly and so cooperative. It was fun shooting with them.
